FAQ
1
What is Ceramic Coating ?
This is a coating of liquid polymer that coats the exterior of the car. It binds itself with the car’s paint to form a hydrophobic surface and a thin layer of shielding. It can bond even to the glass, wheels, chrome, and even plastic trim.
2
What is PAINT PROTECTION FILM?
PPF is a thin, typically clear, adhesive-backed layer that Protouch can apply to certain body panels or even an entire vehicle. While PPF has been around for decades, the latest, most advanced films may last for a long time even under extreme light conditions, and they can heal themselves after light scratches.
3
Is Vinyl the same as Paint Protection Film?
There seems to be a lot of confusion between Paint Protection Film and Vinyl Wrap (color changing wraps, car wrapping). Vinyl Wraps are used to change the aesthetic appearance of a vehicle. In most cases, Vinyl Wrap is used to change the color of the car or adding additional graphics, without the need of repainting the entire car. Vinyl Wraps offer a lot of customization, but is much thinner than clear bra.
PPF is a much thicker, and heavier version of Vinyl Wrap. Vinyl Wrap is a lighter substance and that is much more forgiving to install. PPF, on the other hand, is typically crystal clear, is much thicker, and self-heals when scratches occur. Paint Protection Film was designed to protect the original paint. Think of a large screen protector for your car. It does not enhance the aesthetic of your car. And Protouch has a ranger of PPF avilable, such as Clear,Matt,Black,Carton Fiber or even color ones.

Should you use a clay bar on Ceramic Coating?
No. A clay bar exists in the automotive detailing industry to remove contaminants that are stuck in the clearcoat, or in this case, in the coating. Now if you use a clay bar, which is abrasive, you might be damaging the Ceramic Coating to a point where it needs to be reapplied again.
Also, since a clay bar is supposed to be used with proper lubrication, the hydrophobic properties of Ceramic Coating make this task even more difficult. Using a clay bar is definitely not recommended.
5
Is Ceramic Coating permanent?
No. Ceramic Coating lifetime varies from product to product, but they usually last from 2 years up to 5 years. Some coatings may deviate from those numbers. Also, the longevity of Ceramic Coating is massively influenced by the environment, usage of the coated vehicle, or the way the coating is being maintained.
Temperature, exposure to the sun, washing techniques, and non-pH neutral automotive shampoos are all variables that help in the decaying process of Ceramic Coating.
So, for instance, you may Ceramic Coat a vehicle and leave it in a garage under perfect conditions, and that Ceramic Coating may last forever. But that is not realistic unless we are talking about a museum or a showroom vehicle.
